What is the USL Youth League?

The USL Youth League (Formerly Super Y-League) is a professionalized system that is the first step for developing youth soccer players in North America.  Affiliated with US Soccer and partnered with US Club Soccer, the league is designed for talented youth players to develop their game over the summer months. 

Which Clubs compete in the USL Youth League?

Over 100 clubs throughout North America compete annually for a Continental Championship.  This year, Northern Virginia Majestics-McLean will participate in the Mid Atlantic Division.  

When does the USL Youth League season run?

The season consists of approximately 8 - 12 games.  The majority of games are played from middle of June to early August, with the North American Finals being held the second week of December held in Florida.

What are the age brackets for the USL Youth League?

Northern Virginia Majestics-McLean will be hosting teams in the following age groups: BOYS: U10, U11, U12, U13 and U14 and for GIRLS: U10, U11, U12, U13, U14 and U15.  The USL Youth League is moving to the school year calendar.  Participants will register for their rising age group that they will play in Fall 2026.  Depending on our tryout pool, there could be two teams per age group selected, players to be asked to play up a year or an entire team to play up a year.  Those decisions will be made by our coaching staff after tryouts. 

U10- Born between August 1, 2016 - July 31, 2017

U11- Born between August 1, 2015 - July 31, 2016

U12- Born between August 1, 2014 - July 31, 2015

U13- Born between August 1, 2013 - July 31, 2014

U14- Born between August 1, 2012 - July 31, 2013

U15- Born between August 1, 2011 - July 31, 2012

How many players will be selected for each USL Youth League team?

Each team will carry a roster between 18 - 22 players.  For the game day roster, the teams will carry 18-players.  Also, depending on the player pool, the coaching staff may opt to play players a year up, thus exposing them to stronger competition.  This will help our players play smarter and improve their individual and collective speed of play.  For the U10 - U12 teams, the roster size will be between 15 – 20 players.  U10’s will play 7v7, while U11's and U12’s will be playing 9v9. 

How many teams are formed per age group?

Depending our our tryout pool/interest, we may have two teams in certain age groups.  Last summer season, we wer able to have a second teams for certain age groups.

What is the commitment?

Training will start in early June and continue through the end of July.  Ideally, practices will be at least twice a week, but based upon age of team and league schedule, will be at the discretion of the coach.  Please expect to have an away game that travel is outside of the Northern Virginia area. ***IMPORTANT*** If your team wins the summer season division, they will be expected to represent the division in the USL Youth Finals which are play in Tampa, Florida during the second week of December.  Team of about 15 players will be selected by the team’s coach to represent the group in the Finals.

What if USL Youth League conflicts with the club team?

By design, the program is not to compete with the club teams, but rather complement them. In the case of a conflict, the player will be encouraged to go to their respective club’s activity; however, the final decision lies with the player and parent.
 

Where will the teams train and play home games?

All training and games will take place in the McLean area.     

Who will coach and train the teams?

What uniforms will the USL Youth League teams use?

USL Youth League uniforms are included in the player’s fees. Each player will receive a uniform kit.  It includes: 2 game shirts, 1 game short, 2 game socks.

How much is the USL Youth League fee?

The Super Y fee for the 2026 summer season is $695.  The fee will cover the following: coaching fees, player uniforms, field rental fees, team equipment, referee game fee, referee assignor fee, league registration fee, insurance, club registrar, website manager, and regional administration.  The fee will also cover a 3 day, 2hour camp for all Super Y participants.  Mini-camp Time/Dates TBD during summer.  Our participants will also be recommended to USL Youth League ID camp.  Payment Schedule: Upon program invitation, payment of $695 is due.  Payments may be made by check: Checks Payable to First Touch Soccer and mailed to, PO Box 5952, Springfield, VA 22150.  Please visit www.mvsoccer10.com for payment options.  There are no refunds for this program.  We will give families credit for future Majestics programs.
